Comparison remarks: Single pore with thickened border. Cereal grasses (maize, wheat, oats etc.) generally have larger pollen than pasture and wild grasses.
Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: small (20-30 μm), or medium (30-50 μm). Shape in equatorial view: round or irregularly round. Shape in polar view: round. Aperture numbers: 1. Aperture type: pores only. Surface pattern: smooth or indefinite. Exine section: thin to medium (no rods visible). Other structural features: thickened or projecting edges to apertures.
