Comparison remarks: Pollen triangular in polar view, with a single forked furrow at one pole. Phormium tenax has similar pollen.
Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: medium (30-50 μm). Shape in equatorial view: flattened oval (oblate) (aperture at one pole). Shape in polar view: triangular/rounded triangular. Aperture numbers: 1 (a single, forked furrow). Aperture type: furrows only. Surface pattern: net or pitted. Exine section: medium with spaced rods.
