Common name: Carrot, wild carrot.
Pollen type: Apiaceae.
Comparison remarks: Other Umbelliferae genera also have very elongate pollen although there is considerable variation, especially in size and in shape of apertures.
Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: medium (30-50 μm). Shape in equatorial view: very elongate (perprolate). Shape in polar view: trilobed (apertures in sides). Aperture numbers: 3. Aperture type: furrows with pores. Surface pattern: net or pitted. Exine section: medium with spaced rods.
