Comparison remarks: Other Pseudopanax species have similar pollen. Exine finely reticulate, tending to be thicker at poles, where rod-layer clearly visible.
Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: medium (30-50 μm). Shape in equatorial view: elongate (prolate). Shape in polar view: round, or triangular/rounded triangular. Aperture numbers: 3. Aperture type: furrows with pores. Surface pattern: net or pitted. Exine section: medium with spaced rods. Other structural features: thickened or projecting edges to apertures.
