Common name: Poplars.

Pollen type: Populus.

Comparison remarks: No furrows or pores; exine surface rough, cauliflower-like under high magnification.

Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: small (20-30 μm), or medium (30-50 μm). Shape in equatorial view: round or irregularly round. Shape in polar view: round. Aperture numbers: 0 or indefinite. Surface pattern: granular. Exine section: thin to medium (no rods visible). Other structural features: cell contents granular.

Bee pollen pellet colour: Yellow to orange.
