IGNS collection number: NZGS4782, NZGS4783, NZGS4934.
Botanical classification: Class Magnoliopsida; Order Malpighiales; Family Salicaceae.
Common name: Crack willow.
Pollen type: Salix.
Comparison remarks: Other species have similar pollen. The pollen is more elongated and surface mesh coarser than that of Cruciferae.
Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: very small (<20 μm). Shape in equatorial view: round or irregularly round. Shape in polar view: trilobed (apertures in sides). Aperture numbers: 3. Aperture type: furrows only, or furrows with pores. Surface pattern: net or pitted. Exine section: medium with spaced rods.
Bee pollen pellet colour: Yellow to orange.
