Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: medium (30-50 μm). Shape in equatorial view: round or irregularly round. Shape in polar view: round. Aperture numbers: 4-6. Aperture type: pores only. Surface pattern: isolated dots due to spines or other projections. Exine section: thin to medium (no rods visible) and with large, broad-based spines. Other structural features: thickened or projecting edges to apertures.
