Botanical classification: Class Magnoliopsida; Order Oxalidales; Family Cunoniaceae.

Common name: Pinkwood, plumwood, eastern leatherwood (Australia).

Pollen type: Eucryphia.

Comparison remarks: Not a New Zealand native, but grown here occasionally. Eucryphia lucida is a distinctive component of Tasmanian leatherwood honey, in which the pollen is very abundant ("over-represented").

Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: very small (<20 μm). Shape in equatorial view: flattened oval (oblate). Shape in polar view: oval. Aperture numbers: 2. Aperture type: furrows only. Surface pattern: smooth or indefinite. Exine section: thin to medium (no rods visible).
