Comparison remarks: Similar pollen is found in other Astelia species (including species formerly assigned to Collospermum)..
Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: small (20-30 μm), or medium (30-50 μm). Shape in equatorial view: different at each pole. Shape in polar view: round, or oval. Aperture numbers: 1. Aperture type: furrows only. Surface pattern: isolated dots due to spines or other projections. Exine section: with very small spines or projections (<1 µm).
