Comparison remarks: Similar pollen is found in other species of Amaranthaceae (incl. Chenopodiaceae), for example Beta vulgaris (beet, silverbeet) and Salicornia quinqueflora (glasswort).
Morphology (unacetolysed pollen): Size class: medium (30-50 μm). Shape in equatorial view: round or irregularly round. Shape in polar view: round. Aperture numbers: more than 12. Aperture type: pores only. Surface pattern: smooth or indefinite, or granular. Exine section: thin to medium (no rods visible).
Bee pollen pellet colour: Yellow (Sawyer 1981).
